Disaster Recovery Centre
Project:- Building Design Services were commissioned by the Isle of Wight Council in June 2007 to look at the feasibility of converting part of the Westridge Centre on the outskirts of Ryde to a Disaster Recovery Facility for the Isle of Wight Council.
Description:- Internal refurbishment and alterations to create a new Disaster Recovery Centre, Corporate Call Centre & rationalisation of existing offices for the relocation of the Isle of Wight Council Learning Centre Staff.
A new platform lift serving the first floor and accessible WC’s on both floors was introduced to bring the facility up to current DDA regulations.
The new facility provided the following accommodation
- A new corporate call centre capable of accommodating 20 staff
- A disaster recovery area capable of accommodating 48 people which also doubled up as a conference facility for approx 100 – 120 delegates
- A further disaster recovery area capable of accommodating 26 people which has a dual role as a corporate hot desk facility
- Corporate IT Training suite for 11 people which doubled up as an additional disaster recovery area as required.
- Corporate training room for 20 people
- Office accommodation for 11 Learning Centre Staff
Service provided:- Survey, sketch plans, planning application, building regulation application, production of tender documents and full contract administration.
